During my career, I've helped design and implement large WAN deployments that have spanned North America. One of my most recent accomplishments, I was tasked with designing and implementing a brand new high capacity WAN that can rapidly provide many services. The solution was achieved by deploying high capacity wave connections and deploying an MPLS backbone across these connections. The solution can provide many types of services without the need to rely on carriers and provides many L2/L3 services which will optimize monthly costs. The organization is now in a position to consolidate many services like creating regional data centers, consolidated remote user services, and has the flexibility to provision new services within days as opposed to the typical carrier installs taking months. After the deployment was implemented I was critical in the documentation of the design, creating operational support processes, and training a team to be able to support the new national WAN deployment.
