About Derek Treatman

I am an engineer with a passion for applying fit-for-purpose data and good data governance to achieve systemic change. My work in resource-constrained settings has allowed me to apply readily available technologies to strengthen health and other national systems. I work with global health partners, governments and NGOs to assess, implement, and optimize data-driven information systems, policies, and standards to improve services. While living in India and working with Dimagi, I created a process for rapid localization of multimedia health information while designing and implementing several mobile health projects in 4 different states, earning me the mHealth Alliance and Rockefeller Foundation's "Top 11 Innovators in 2011" award. While in Ethiopia with Columbia University and the Federal Ministry of Health in Ethiopia I extended my focus on health data collection in remote areas through the use of a centralized call center platform and standardized data indicators to drive large-scale decisions on resource allocation. My work at Mount Sinai focused on medical research and regulatory compliance, where I developed and analyzed databases for clinical trials and implemented of enterprise systems to support research administration.
