About Derek Vu

Hello! My name is Derek Vu and I'm in my second year of the Honours Commerce program at McMaster University, with an interest in Finance and Innovation. My passion for business falls from the curiosity and desire to create something that has a unique blend. This critical thinking led me to analyze situations and develop forward-thinking ideas. With this mindset, I created a business, Wok N Roll. A brand that takes a twist from Vietnamese cuisines in a modern way. This journey of entrepreneurship allowed me to take risks, manage a team, learn to run a business, while still being able to honour my heritage. Starting a business empowers you to work harder, develop skills, and shape your future. In my 6+ years of working in the restaurant industry, I've mastered the skills from customer service, leadership, and adaptability. This experience has taught me how to handle high pressure, manage operations at busy times, and work with my team seamlessly.
