About Derek Welch

I am a highly accomplished, extremely dedicated and results driven Technology / Operational Risk Manager with extensive experience in the finance and banking sector predominantly undertaking an oversight and first line of defence role in Technology. During my career, I have proactively identified a diverse range of business risk issues, conducted gap analysis and reassessed business controls to transform risk remediation, standards and policies. To create operational excellence, I have continually focused my efforts on creating a culture of inclusion across the line of business to embed risk management controls. This includes establishing, developing and maintaining effective working relationships with multi-disciplined teams of staff. In reporting to senior management, I have supported overall company strategy development by providing an analytical view of key risk indicators and have supported a robust and fully aligned risk framework to meet business objectives. As a strong team leader and manager, I am proactive in supporting wider risk managers and risk analysts to manage technology applications and infrastructure. I provided guidance on incident management, action planning and regulatory compliance to maintain operational risk management. I have worked in operations, business management, programme management and application management. I welcome any opportunities to further my experience focusing very much on the contract market in the City.
