About Derek Wittman

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (NY) and Licensed Professional Counselor (PA), I work with adults (ages 18-75) to navigate emotional challenges and self-exploration, fostering growth and change through a hope-driven approach. My specialties include supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, those in vocational or life transitions, and many of my clients focus on healing from trauma and grief. While I work with couples as well, much of my work is within the unique dynamics and challenges of blended families. I also work with individuals in non-traditional relationships, helping them address the challenges they face, and support those impacted by substance use disorders within their family system as they heal from grief and trauma. I bring extensive experience, having completed an internship and five additional years full-time in substance use disorder and recovery treatment programs, followed by another two years part time supporting 800+ patients and 15 full-time providers in an Opioid (Methadone) Treatment Program helping foster social skills and program compliance. While part-time, I expanded into private practice in partnership with one of Onondaga County’s largest and most respected mental health groups. Currently, I serve as the Sole Member, Manager, and Provider at Sage in Time Mental Health Counseling, PLLC, where I continue to guide clients on their journey to healing and personal growth.
