About Derek Yeung

Derek is a Hong Kong registered Physiotherapist. His clinical interests include sports injury rehabilitation and prevention, acupuncture, and management of spinal related diseases. Derek has worked in Queen Elizabeth Hospital and private clinics. He regularly provides on-field physiotherapy for different sports events such as Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon, Nike Hong Kong 10k Challenge, Raleigh Challenge Wilson Trail, the 2010 Asian Games, Hong Kong Rugby League games, and Hong Kong Premier League football games. His over 15 years in private and public sectors has equipped him with extensive clinical experience and brought him positive reputation. Derek’s clinical practice is backed up with solid academic background. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Physiotherapy from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2005 and attained an Advanced Personal Fitness Trainer Certificate from the Asian Academy for Sports and Fitness Professionals in the same year. In 2009, he obtained a Master of Science degree in Acupuncture from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He further studied Chinese Chiropractic Therapy for Spinal related Diseases in Guangzhou in 2011. In 2011, he has also become an Australian certified Clinical Pilates Instructor. In 2012, he was accredited as a Certified Balance Taping Instructor. In addition, Derek has attained various qualifications in, amongst others, orthotics prescription, manual therapy, sports therapy and traditional Thai massage. Derek deeply believes that "prevention is better than cure" and he recognised that many common pains and aches are preventable. Therefore, he would like to educate the public how to prevent those common musculoskeletal disorders and hope that most people do not need to visit him for “treatment“ one day. He called this preventative measures “prehabilitation” (or prehab).
