Healthcare Consultant | Special Needs Advocate I am a healthcare professional with extensive industry experience. My career has given me a diverse portfolio of professional exposure, allowing me the opportunity to assume roles and adapt to organizational needs. I spent 5 years in various supervisory manufacturing roles before I stumbled into healthcare and found my passion. I began working as a Financial Analyst where I was intimately involved with Kaizen process improvement teams. I became a Certified Healthcare Financial Professional through HFMA to assist my transitioning from manufacturing to healthcare, allowing me to be a more effective contributor to the work. I reported out on goal progression and countermeasures for various system wide initiatives including CHF, COPD, CABG/Valve Replacements, Diabetes/DKA Response Teams, and IP Psychiatric Units. Despite not having a clinical background, I discovered I could still positively affect patient experience by educating, advocating and putting myself in a position to eliminate barriers to those on the front lines. I transitioned into an internal consultant where I focused on population health and campus optimization. I further transitioned into an Operations Manager where I managed multiple Family Medicine Resident Clinics, an Internal Medicine Family Medicine Clinic, and a Geriatrics Clinic. I have a working knowledge of population health, metrics, value based care, increasing access, leading process improvement teams through PDSA, finding creative problems to eliminate the effects of social determinants of health, telehealth, provider productivity, staffing optimization, developing strategic plans, budgeting, etc. In 2016 I discovered another passion of mine. I became a father to a child with special needs. I have a son with a plethora of health issues, including Cerebral Palsy. I feel a duty to advocate for those who can’t advocate for themselves. I find a great deal of satisfaction in advocating for those with special needs.
