Some might say I'm a poacher turned game keeper.As a 20+ year veteran in the Finance Industry I have been lucky enough to experience a variety of roles and disciplines while always satisfying my passion for People, Data and Technology. I've also been fortunate to see off the global financial crisis and now had the joy of working remotely through the Covid-19 pandemic, which has been a hugely challenging time for a person like me who thrives on interpersonal interaction!From my beginnings as a frontline banker I've enjoyed a variety of experiences through back office roles eventually overseeing the opening (and closing) of branches, owning applications (before Product Owners and CXOs were even a thing!), running UAT testing teams, building web/database software solutions from the ground up in a DevOps environment, transforming process with automation and technology, delivering reporting, uncovering insights, developing and growing teams - the constants throughout all of this have been connecting people with data and using technology as an enabler for people. It's also fair to say that along the way I've been able to play fast and loose with data to achieve results!In my most recent role I have transformed a large organisations view and approach to looking after data, with technology and people again at the forefront of the activity. Along the way my own perspective on data has evolved dramatically! My long and storied history working with data at every stage of it's lifecycle helps to bring a pragmatic, down to earth approach to my work. At the end of the day my overarching "why" is my family and I enjoy exploring life with my children. A life-long learner, though not in the traditional sense, I am always heading down a new rabbit hole the latest being mountain biking or home brewing (the current fads).
