About Derrick Ooi

Began my career with a globally recognised hotel chain in Kuala Lumpur, building myself in Hospitality and Human Resources, then went on to pursue my true passion with one of the brand leaders in the Sports/Sports Fashion industry as a Merchandiser. This role showed me that work can be difficult and stressful, but extremely rewarding and fun at the same time. With that, my career choice has been set in stone. With a solid foundation in Merchandising, I then moved on to a Fast Fashion retail company to be a part of the newly structured Malaysian Merchandising team as a Merchandising Analyst. Currently, I'm back with a Sports/Sports Fashion multi branded retailer, which is becoming the leading retailer in Malaysia in its category. Using my skills learnt from being a Human Resources personnel, Merchandiser at different levels of market segmentation, I have found my calling as a Footwear Buyer, contributing to a significant portion of the business. There are no limitations to what one might become. Only opportunities. And the opportunities are endless.
