About Derrious Robinson

Derrious Robinson, Founder and President of RTW Photography, is native of Miami, Florida where he was raised by his grandparents. Since childhood, Robinson exhibited an interest in computers and how they work. Suitably, Robinson earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 2013 from the University of Florida. Upon graduation, Robinson began his career as a commercial electrical engineer. While working full-time in Tampa, Florida, Robinson decided to continue his education, by pursuing his Master’s degree which was conferred from the University of South Florida in 2017. During his time as an engineer and graduate student, Robinson sparked a deep-seated passion for photography when he picked up a camera for the first time in the Summer of 2016. Recognizing the value in his unique work, Robinson began to invest in his newfound love for photography. He then started the blog Ride the Wave, a platform for high fashion, up-and-coming models and stylists. In 2017, Ride the Wave became RTW Photography, a partnership involving Robinson and his classmate, Walter Tre Idlétte. In 2019, the two welcomed LaVell Monger to the team. Today, RTW Photography is an all encompassing, full service commercial business specializing in weddings, corporate services, real estate services, branding, photo booth and studio rentals. The Orlando and Atlanta based photography company is a nationally recognized brand, with an extensive list of corporate clients including BET, Google, Orlando Regional Realtor Association, University of Florida, and Orlando Economic Partnership. What’s more, RTW Photography has been featured in Elléments Magazine and Black Bride Magazine, the cover of the 2022 issue of Florida Trend’s Florida Small Business, and recognized by African American Chamber of Commerce for the 2022 Enterprise Business of the Year. From a commercial electrical engineer to President of a successful photography business, Robinson continues to motivate, lead, and inspire clients and freelancers from behind the shutters– and that is what RTW Photography is all about.
