About Derryl Carter

Engineering leader with 15+ years of experience delivering large-scale web applications and platforms used by millions. I bring a mix of technical depth and collaborative leadership, equally at home writing code to solve complex problems or guiding teams through high-visibility launches. At GOAT, I helped drive site-wide redesigns and major product improvements, including a 2021 rebuild of GOAT.com that cut page load times by half and a mobile PDP redesign that doubled engagement and improved search rankings. I’ve also led initiatives in observability, reliability, and developer experience that improved uptime and accelerated delivery across teams. As a manager, I owned GOAT’s frontend interview loop, scaling the team with a reputation for empathetic candidate experience, and I’ve grown engineers from entry level through Staff while fostering a culture of accountability and technical excellence. I continue to contribute code in high-impact areas—observability, performance tuning, developer tooling—while ensuring my reports own delivery and innovation.I thrive at the intersection of product, design, and engineering, building teams and systems that deliver measurable business impact while remaining maintainable, performant, and user-focused.
