About Desirae Linden

I'm currently a team nurse and treatment lead nurse at Illinois CancerCare in Bloomington with almost 10 years of experience as an oncology nurse. I'm also a Family Nurse Practitioner student due to graduate in May 2023. I’m eager to get started in a new role as a nurse practitioner in the near future because I’m passionate about helping people be their best. Whether that’s treating a condition, helping with an injury, promoting wellness, de-prescribing medications, reviewing results, or educating patients, I'm ready to embrace all of it.As nurses, we strive to find new ways to serve our patients better. For me, that meant growing and becoming a Nurse Practitioner to work toward reaching my full potential. I’m focused on providing nothing but the best care and working WITH patients to meet their needs and goals holistically as a person, rather than looking at them as a medical condition or a number. I’m on their team to be an evaluator, prescriber, coordinator, advocate, and teacher.Throughout my career, I have grown into a mentor, educator, and leader. I have shared my knowledge and expertise with patients and nurses alike. I take pride in my communication skills and my desire to continuously seek learning opportunities, both of which are important for collaborative care and keeping up with ever growing changes in medicine. My experience with outpatient care and triage, the multiple facets of cancer treatment, and managing rapid responses in the outpatient setting as a nurse clinician are valuable experiences for a future role as a nurse practitioner.
