Five years of living, working and studying abroad developed a slew of different skills that I apply every day to my career. Navigating work and everyday living situations in a foreign country reinforced the importance of communication while strengthening patience, emotional intelligence, resilience and problem-solving abilities. I currently work at the Illinois Department of Employment Security as an unemployment insurance claims adjudicator. I work closely with my local office team to assist both claimants and employers through moments of economic hardship. Trained on Illinois Unemployment Insurance Law and IDES policy and procedure, I am able to provide timely and accurate eligibility determinations. I am also adept at multi-tasking customer service concerns while conducting investigations and brainstorming ideas to increase productivity for those impacted by the agency.
