About Desiree Washington

Thanks! Here's a revised version of your bio written as an aspiring high school counselor, in a confident and present-tense tone that reflects where you're headed: Bio: I am an aspiring high school counselor with a heart for helping youth especially African American teens recognize their value, embrace their identity, and reach their fullest potential. My passion lies in creating safe, supportive spaces where students feel seen, heard, and motivated to rise above life’s challenges. Through my role as a Project Coordinator at New World Impact, I’ve spent years working directly in the community, organizing events, mentoring youth, and coordinating outreach programs that meet both academic and emotional needs. I also volunteer as a math and reading tutor for elementary students, and I’ve had the privilege of mentoring with UC Davis Ujima program, which introduced young girls to the power of STEM and self-belief. Every experience I’ve had confirms my calling to be a guide and a light for students navigating high school and beyond. I don’t just want to work in education I want to be a consistent presence in the lives of young people, showing them that their story isn’t limited by what’s in front of them. I’m here to remind them: they matter, they belong, and their future is bright.
