Hi! I'm Dev, a Computer Science student at the University of Waterloo Incoming Fall 2025 @ Shopify, currently interning @ Ontario Provincial Police (Summer 2025) In the summer of 2024, I finished an internship @ Health Canada as a Software Engineering Intern using Android, building an app using Java and Kotlin that has 10K downloads on the Google Play Store. Built an AI endangered fish tracking tool called MarineMatch which has received 500 downloads and presented the Ingenious+ award. My most recent project EcoPlastic won 1st place ($3K) out of 100+ submissions the WUSA Change Engine Competition. I am also involved in my community through representing Canada on an international scale as 1 of 25 Marine Plastic Ambassadors, along with being a Royal Canadian Air Cadet and instructor @ Canada Learning Code Some key achievements so far include : • Terry Fox Scholar - Awarded to 13 Canadians each year ($28K) • RBC 21 under 21 - Awarded to young trailblazers who have made a positive impact • Awarded over 10K in funding - Ocean Action Grant, School Health Grant for Youth + more • 1st Place TRREB President Scholarship, Telus Leader Award, NSHSS Artificial Intelligence Award I believe that computer science is a tool to catalyze social change; reach out at devkatyal01@gmail.com
