About Dev Lewis

Hello! My interests lie at the intersections of digital tech, policy, Asian philosophy, and authentic living. With Digital Asia Hub I design workshops and research projects, as well as help build the Hub's community and manage operations. As a Steward of Digi-CNX, a collaboration with the School of Public Policy at Chiang Mai University, I'm building a community of crypto nomads, digital rights activists, academics, and others, interested in the impact of digital spaces on people and the planet. With a new project Light Forest i'm exploring how Asian spiritual philosophies and indigenous knowledge can inform our relationship with technology. I'm invited to speak at conferences where I share my perspective on policy challenges around technology and politics. Over the years some of the space i've spoken at include RMIT Blockchain Hub, GSMA Mobile Week, ISIS Asia Pacific Roundtable, Exponential View, Informatik Berlin, the Peking University Academic Forum on Social Credit System, to name a few. I used to write a Substack ChinaIndia Networked and contributed to a number of news media spaces on China geopolitical and tech issues. I've spent a decade+ living in India, the United States, China, and now Thailand. Where I've landed now is a seeing that we need an evolution in how we live and govern our planet. The roots of our problems (geopolitics, environment, etc.) go far deeper than policy prescriptions alone can address. As humans of this era we lack awareness of the emotional effects and loss of mental agency that comes from living digitally. In Chiang Mai I'm exploring bodymind practises such as meditation and Qigong. I'm learning about non-dual Asian philosophies such Daoism, Buddhism, Zen, and Advaita to learn (and unlearn) authentic living and bring Light into how I live and interact with the world.
