About Devan Abuaita

Growing up, I lived in seven different places before turning 18—from Bakersfield, California, to Amsterdam. This constant change shaped who I am today, instilling adaptability, social competence, and a strong willingness to learn. Each relocation brought new challenges, cultures, and perspectives, and I’ve carried these lessons into my academic and professional pursuits. One of my favorite quotes is from The McKinsey Way by Ethan M. Rasiel: “Be comfortable with ambiguity and embrace complexity.” This mindset drives my passion for problem-solving, no matter how complex or vaguely defined the issue may be. Pursuing a degree in business analytics has allowed me to refine this passion by mastering tools like data analysis to tackle modern business challenges effectively. At Indiana University, I’ve embraced learning by engaging in diverse academic and extracurricular opportunities. From building a foundation in real estate, finance, and analytics to honing key software skills, I am committed to continuous learning and research to make informed decisions and drive results. I also take pride in my ability to communicate effectively, whether it’s through written work, verbal presentations, or mentorship roles. Years of connecting with people from different backgrounds have sharpened my emotional intelligence and open-mindedness, which I’ve applied as a leader in various IU activities.
