About Devan Rajendran

I am a master’s student in Information Security Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College, driven by a passion for exploring and mastering all aspects of cybersecurity. My interests include Threat Intelligence, Anti-Phishing/Social Engineering, Penetration Testing, and Governance, Risk, and Privacy. Every day, I focus on honing my skills and contributing to creating resilient and secure systems. At Deloitte USI Consulting, I developed and deployed 10+ critical backend API features for a U.S-based healthcare client, ensuring seamless functionality, data protection, and system reliability. Leveraged a range of tools and technologies including JavaScript, Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript, Postman, Python, Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Docker, and Splunk to optimize system performance. Acted as a Security Engineer, focusing on application security through vulnerability management using tools like NexusIQ, BugTrack JIRA, CyberArk PAM, SonarQube (SAST), and monitoring systems like Splunk and Dynatrace. Before transitioning to cybersecurity, my journey started at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), where I specialized in Control Dynamics and Aerial Robotics. My hands-on experience includes multiple robotics projects and a research internship in the Aerospace Department at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. What excites me most about cybersecurity is the dynamic and collaborative nature of the field.
