About Devan Rawlings

I am a Research Professional at the Becker Friedman Institute for Economics at the University of Chicago. Growing up in the industrial city of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, I became developed a keen interest in the local manufacturing industry's struggles and a commitment to helping unemployed members of my community find jobs that suit their skills. This passion drove me to pursue B.A. studies in Economics and Political Science at the University of Windsor, where I graduated at the top of my class in both fields, and M.A. studies in Economics at the University of British Columbia. I have long been a math nerd with a knack for explaining complex concepts and analysis in a concise, easy-to-understand way. I also believe that the best economic analysis blends quantitative evidence and logical reasoning with an on-the-ground understanding of the people involved. I have produced research on various topics, including North American labor markets and policy, environmental policy, social security and green energy products.
