Background
About Deviana Dewi
I have a keen interest in the governance and the political economy of food and nutrition, as well as the nexus between child malnutrition, poverty, and inequality. My PhD research adopts a mixed-method approach in unpacking the political economy of a child malnutrition (stunting) policy in Indonesia by focusing on agenda-setting, policy implementation, and policy evaluation. Prior to PhD studies, I have built my expertise in multi-level development since 2012 from community development in a remote Indonesian district, to program management at the national level, UK-Indonesia academic research, and recently international development assistance in the public sector with Australian Department Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in partnership with the World Bank for poverty and social development programs. My passion for development is coupled with a healthy degree of skepticism for how it works in practice, and thus I am continually looking for new ways to improve impact while trying to unpick my own assumptions. I look forward to platforms where I can do both research and policy work.
