About Devin Black

I am a defense attorney in the Workers' Compensation field. I have more than 8 years of experience as a defense representative, conducting bill review, arguing before the WCAB, submitting trial briefs, and negotiating and resolving medical liens. I have received numerous take nothings, and am known to have a good rapport with both opponents and judges in court. My lien experience gives me a unique look into the case-in-chief as a whole and the impact the case-in-chief has on the lien stage of a claim. I recently interned at a civil litigation firm for 3 months for credits towards receiving my J.D. At the civil firm, I advanced my legal research skills and learned how civil practice differs from administrative law. Specifically, I learned the differences in the discovery process, the demeanor in unlawful detainer court compared to that at the WCAB, and the extensive availability and variety of court forms in civil practice.
