About Devin Buckley

As a senior Engineering Physics student at the Colorado School of Mines, I am passionate about applying my scientific knowledge and technical skills to innovative and challenging projects. Currently, I am working on a research project in collaboration with Los Alamos National Laboratory, investigating how the static charge on dielectric material’s surface participates in electrostatic discharge. I am responsible for constructing a system that deposits charges on selected surfaces at precise locations in space and testing to characterize insulator discharges by measuring electric fields before and after discharge. I have also developed strong leadership and communication skills through my experience as a teaching assistant and a musician. As a machine lab teaching assistant, I led groups of undergraduate students in all aspects of research-related machine shop practices, and design principles. As a touring musician, I have learned the importance of teamwork, creativity, and resilience. These experiences have taught me that pursuing excellence requires a never-give-up attitude, a willingness to learn from failures, and a collaborative spirit. I am confident that these skills and values will serve me well in my engineering career.
