About Devin Johnston

With over six years of experience in the education sector, I am passionate about helping students achieve their academic and personal goals, and fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment. As an academic advisor at Augsburg University, I use my MA in Higher Education and my interpersonal communication skills to advise, support, and mentor a large caseload of students from various backgrounds and identities. My values of social justice, equity, and access are aligned with the mission and culture of Augsburg University.In my current role, I collaborate with other university departments and serve on various committees to coordinate academic onboarding, support students on academic probation, and provide meaningful educational experiences for students. I also developed the curriculum and currently teach a First Year Transition course that helps students transition to college life and explore their interests and strengths. I use various student data management systems to track student progress and retention rates, and utilize data-driven best practices in supporting students to improve student outcomes. I am always eager to learn new skills and strategies to enhance my professional development and student success.
