About Devin Swirk

Hi, my name is Devin Swirk, I’m born and raised right here in Atlanta. I’ve had my green thumb as long as I can remember, one of my favorite childhood memories was going to the Tucker Pike Nursery with my parents I would grab the red wagon and walk around the store with my parents filling it up with all kinds of pretty flowers and veggies. Then we got to go home and plant them! My green thumb really took off when we moved to our new build house in I have worked and nurtured this garden for 24 years now. I still work in that garden to this day. If I had to choose a favorite plant it would not just be one. I love citrus, hydrangeas, vegetables, plumerias, hibiscus, and the list goes on. ​I entered the green industry back in in 2006 when I started working for Randy’s Water Gardens and perennials. It was so much fun and got to see so many cool plants. When I started colleges at Kennesaw State University I got a job at Pike Nursery, and during my time at pikes my knowledge of this industry really took off. I was exposed to so many different plants. I got to know the growers that were ordered from, the local ones right here in Georgia, and all the way from across the country. When I graduated from KSU in 2011 I entered the manager trainee program. I quickly became a Store Manager 2013 I bounced around Atlanta running different stores. Then moved to Charlotte in 2015 to run Ballantyne and help them with their expansion in the Charlotte market. In 2021 I started working for Monrovia Growers at the Cairo Georgia facility. This was a great opportunity for me to learn the grower side of the industry. Working for a grower is totally different than working at a garden center. ​My exposure to both sides of the business was great to see the full picture. I’m now a proud Floridian with my own garden where I can grow tropical plants. I have over 45 different citrus and developed a new love for plumerias.
