About Devina Prakash

Throughout my developing years I often wondered what motivates and drives people to take the actions that they do. This inquisitive nature of mine always led me to question a person’s thought process. Why did some peers at my after-school crèche choose to share their toys, while the others were more reserved and introverted? What drove my mother to choose a challenging career in the public sector and pursue it with the same level of interest and dedication that she did 20 years back, while still devoting herself to raising her kids every single day of her life? Why does our society not encourage girls to pursue their dreams and careers as much as they support and cheer every bold move made by a boy in the same position? These are examples of questions that I always asked myself and this thirst for a better understanding led me to transfer my schooling within Lucknow to Loreto Convent, which offered formal higher education in psychology post which I did my bachelors and masters in Psychology. In my opinion, the process of self-discovery and periodic self-examination is essential to the path of self-actualization, which is widely recognised as the highest level of fulfilment human beings can hope to achieve. I believe in the power of information and envision myself helping others make more informed life choices.
