About Devinne Fackelman

I'm currently a Master of Science Student of Anthropology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I have currently completed the Professional Museum Studies certificate offered jointly by the UW-M and Milwaukee Public Museum. In the Museum Studies program I interned at Sheboygan County Historical Society & Museum in their collections department. During my undergraduate degree, I worked in the Grand Valley State University Anthropology Laboratory with a variety of GVSU’s archaeological collections. My work with collections has included reorganizing artifacts, inventorying artifacts, and constructing public displays. In the Laboratory, I maintained documents, spreadsheets and laboratory equipment. Helping staff and students find necessary documents, books and other items required for classes, meetings or research was another of my duties. I concurrently maintained detailed inventories of artifacts and maps used in the Anthropology department. I was a teaching assistant at GVSU and have experience teaching Undergraduate students. Through the Museum Studies program, I have experience teaching to the public through Sheboygan County Historical Society & Museum’s House Tours and through the MPM’s Inside Out Night. During my laboratory work I have executed multiple projects to organize archaeological collections to better categorize artifacts so collections are more accessible for later research and analysis. The projects included working with prehistoric and historic cultural artifacts. This work included verifying artifacts, updating tags, physically reorganizing artifact storage and updating computer database records. In addition to my laboratory work, I participated in field excavations in Mule Creek New Mexico and Ottawa County Michigan where I executed a multitude of field work processes and learned numerous field and related laboratory skills.
