Passions - my family, my friends, teaching, travelling, good coffee, old bookshops, making music, my hens, my bees and my garden. Pet peeves - unnecessary sarcasm, unkindness, clicking pens and redundant apostrophes. Have published on the works of: Meera Syal, Michael Ondaatje, Monica Ali, Cauvery Madhavan, Raman Mundair, Zadie Smith, Arundhati Roy, Ravinder Randhawa and Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, and have had the joy of presenting research at conferences in the UK, US, Germany, Sweden, India, Turkey, Spain and Malta. Delighted to consider supervising PhD students in the areas of banned texts, postcolonial literature, Indo-Anglian literature, the representation of disability in literature and the media, multicultural British fiction, the representation of labour, and Chicano American literature.
