About Devon Estes

I am a recently graduated pre-medical student at UC Davis with a B.S. in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior and a Minor in Psychology. Through volunteering at my local hospital in high school, I experienced valuable patient interactions and greatly improved my communication skills. Inspired by my work at the hospital, I decided to pursue an Emergency Medical Technician license. Over the summer of 2020, I received my EMT certification through UCLA’s Center for Prehospital Care. I gained over a year of EMS experience working at Eagle Ambulance in Rodeo, CA as a part-time EMT while also balancing it with my school work from March 2021 to May 2022. This job taught me so much about the importance of teamwork, quality patient care, and compassion in the prehospital setting. I also have an intense interest in clinical research, and after joining the Emergency Medical Research Associate Program at UC Davis, I have been able to accumulate research experience in the Emergency Department of one of the most renowned level 1 trauma centers in the nation - UC Davis Medical Center. In this program, I have held two leadership positions: Clinical Research Associate Trainer and Senior Trainer. These positions have allowed me to gain quality experience working with an administrative team and becoming even more involved in our research projects. Between these two experiences and the multiple pre-health clubs and organizations I am a part of, I believe I have accumulated many skills necessary to prepare me for a career in healthcare. I am thrilled to be entering such a dynamic field and will always be eager to learn more from each opportunity I am presented with.
