About Devon Jakob

Due to funding uncertainties (which are unrelated to merit), I'm open to new, long-term opportunities and roles in chemistry, laboratory operations, instrumentation, and analytical chemistry. I'm open to roles preferably in NC or VA (and open to elsewhere). I am not looking for positions in Maryland or the DMV. Currently leveraging my strong and adaptable scientific background, passion for innovation, and effective analytical skills to maximize my impact throughout a wide range of projects at NIST. I'm focused on strengthening and expanding NIST's atomic force microscopy (AFM) based nanoscale spectroscopy suite, establishing innovative metrologies and accompanying theoretical understandings, and delivering measurable results for internal and external collaborators. Most recently, I've become part of a CHIPS for America team at NIST that is developing new tools for accurate mapping of thermal properties at the nanoscale which have significant implications for semiconductor stakeholders in government, academia, and U.S. industry. Together with my endless curiosity, motivation for learning and undertaking new challenges, my expertise in physical/analytical chemistry, and my NIST (federal) experience - I have garnered invaluable skills that will help me both in life and in profession. I hold particular passion for answering two questions:(1) How does that work? and (2) How can that be better? Curiosity is the cornerstone of innovation.
