About Devon McGrath

Challenge what’s possible. From a young age, I became interested in computers. There was something oddly satisfying about making Windows batch scripts do simple things. I quickly got into programming in C, C++, and Java - laying out the foundations for becoming the developer and problem solver I am today. Throughout the last decade, if I had an idea to do something - from making simple 2D side-scroller games to trying to understand the midi file format and making a simple web page to parse and play a midi file - I executed on those ideas. In the workplace, things are no different; whether it’s building numerous web apps or simple PowerShell/Bash scripts - I always look to improve the way my team works. Where others see the status quo, I see an opportunity for improvement. On one of my teams, we used software for testing and production validation - the software was slow and crashed frequently. So I took initiative: I looked at the problem and built a web application to solve it. What was once a developer task can now be done by anyone and when validation used to take 30+ minutes now only takes 2 and just a couple clicks. I always look to improve my knowledge and gain different perspectives. In my free time, I am currently expanding my knowledge of and experience with Google Cloud Platform. I have worked with Java, C, C++, Python, Bash, PowerShell, web (React, Angular, HTML5, CSS3, TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js), Active Directory, Databases, networks, and much more. All of my experience and knowledge helps me find a better way to solve problems, improve processes, and challenge what is possible.
