About Devon Menzel

With over 25 years of experience in Engineering and Design, I have led the coordination and development of offshore facilities, from FEED studies through to detailed design. My expertise spans Greenfield projects, shutdowns, and maintenance for brownfield offshore oil & gas platforms, FSO vessels, and onshore fuel storage plants. I have extensive experience across offshore hydrocarbons downstream processing and plant design within the minerals and metals sector. My expertise spans gold, copper, nickel, and lithium projects, including the successful delivery and completion of multiple NPI facilities supporting Rio Tinto and BHP operations.Additionally, I played a key role in the development of a Commercial Demonstration Plant that utilizes biogas from a Waste Water Treatment Plant as methane feedstock for a reactor, producing hydrogen and synthetic graphite, pioneering sustainable energy solutions. Furthermore, my experience includes the design and integration of hydrogen electrolyzer systems, supporting the production of clean hydrogen for industrial applications. This work contributes to advancing decarbonization efforts and the transition to sustainable energy sources.Throughout my career, I have held accountability for a broad range of strategic, technical, and delivery-focused responsibilities, including:•Provide strategic leadership in the development and execution of project plans, budgets, and schedules to ensure alignment with business objectives.•Oversee procurement strategies and logistics execution, ensuring supply chain efficiency, commercial compliance, and risk mitigation.•Serve as the senior technical authority and recognised subject matter expert for piping and mechanical systems across complex mining, minerals processing, and energy projects.•Involved in HAZOPs, constructability reviews, value engineering sessions, and multidisciplinary design assurance workshops.•Direct plant layout development and spatial optimisation using advanced 2D and 3D engineering platforms to support safe, operable, and cost effective facilities.•Provide executive oversight and final technical endorsement for RFIs and Technical Queries (TQs), ensuring timely resolution and maintenance of engineering integrity.
