Background

About Devon Murphy

I'm a content marketer and strategist with over a decade of experience in the industry. I like taking topics, trends, and product needs and turning them into thoughtful pieces that get people talking, and drive business success. I'd rather deep dive on research and interviews to provide unique, valuable content than whip up a quick SEO post, but I can do both. Previously, I was head of content for a major Canadian arts institution, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. In that role I was responsible for creating and maintaining the editorial voice, and producing or editing all article and video content published online and on our social channels, which means I spent my days telling the stories of artists. I also headed up the content for a national ad campaign, a Centre-wide rebrand, and developed an institutional content strategy.I work well in teams like when I worked in The Huffington Post Canada's newsroom, or on my own when writing remotely, as I do now. I'm skilled in interviewing, producing, copy-editing and fact-checking, and have a holistic understanding of how to conceptualize and create content that will amplify an institution or organization's brand while maintaining its goals and objectives. Mostly, I just want to tell stories— through videos, articles, ebooks, more—that are fun to create and enjoyable and valuable to consume.
