About Devon Reddick

From 2014 to 2019, I worked for a Water and Theme park for 4 years in 4 different departments including Food Service, Retail, Ride Operations and Aquatics Lifeguarding. The skills learned from the company have helped me in many situations. I learned communication, currency management, which are basic everyday skills that are used everyday by many around the world today, as well as CPR and Basic First Aid. As a lifeguard, I have had to save an customer in one of pools that was using an innertube due to inability to swim. After they got my attention, I jumped in the water and pulled them to the emergency ladder on the side of the pool. After I ended my time with the company, I chose to enlist my services in the United States Military. I enlisted in January of 2020 out of Shreveport, Louisiana and underwent 22 weeks of training in Fort Benning, Georgia and residing in Fort Drum, New York. Since my enlistment, I have learned many skills such as firearm handling, crowd control, and time management. Since my enlistment in the Military, i have received 2 rewards for excellence and selfless service. First was for rendering aid to a downed colleague who suffered a torn hamstring. I deployed my portable litter, carried him to the designated area and ran to get any medical professional I could find. After running a little over 2 miles, I finally found a medic, informed them of the situation, and sprinted back to my colleague, beating the medical vehicle back to the scene. Second was for discussing, constructing and building a platform for former Vice President Mike Pence to speak to Fort Drum about the upcoming changes in Presidency. During the preparation, I met with the Chief Advisor to the Vice President, a white house employee, and several members of the United States Secret Service. Common sense played a big role in constructing the platform as well as communication and time management. These are just some of the experiences I have gained from working for the 2 companies I have been employed in.
