With a vibrant career spanning over 15 years in the health equity, human development and progressive education domains, I'm a passionate advocate for holistic health and human development research and design. At the nationally acclaimed, Black Male Yoga Initiative (BMYI), I channel this passion by creating the space for community champions to develop, train & pursue certifications in Yoga and deploy BMYI programs such as Young Gurus (Young G’s), that not only combat violence but also works to close the gap of health inequity. My contributions range from designing specialized programs to securing a MBE/DBE and 8a certification. My leadership tenure at BMYI-a pioneering award winning non profit-I constructed a transformational curriculum to circumvent the full spectrum of negative behavior impulses in adults and youth so people of color may advance personally and professionally as they cultivate self-awareness, build resilience, and enhance their overall well-being- is testament to my commitment to revolutionizing the industry. March 2024, I was recognized on the Maryland Senate Floor for my contribution to BMYI “promoting health equity and mental well-being among men of color”. Making a way forward rooted in environmental sustainability through service is not just a job for me; it is a way of life. I firmly believe and often emphasize that, ‘When we heal, we don't heal alone’ underscoring my commitment to fostering collective well-being.
