About Devyani Tewari

My research delves into the social constructs of gender, race, disability, status, class, sexual orientation and religion and how they operate as distinct and intersecting facts in the domain of health law, legal theory, critical legal studies, postcolonialism, family law, disability law, disability studies, feminist theory, analyses of female sexuality, employment law, and constitutional law. In my academic career, I teach and examine legal subjects in an interdisciplinary manner, trying to explore questions with the aid of popular culture. My academic research is based primarily on the principle of -"personal is political". I have written on topics of domestic violence, discrimination against disabled women in the public sphere, constitutional governance and manifestation of religion in the workplace. My academic research aspires to contribute to the scholarship on women with invisible disabilities. As part of my academic scholarship, I have enunciated the concept of 'disability fatalism', by drawing upon Sara Ahmed's work on 'gender fatalism'. As a human rights lawyer, I worked on research projects focusing on socio- economic rights, public policy concerns and women's rights.
