About Dewayne White

Time passes so quickly. Following retirement from my law enforcement career spanning just over three decades, I returned to the workforce to do what I have always done which is protecting people. In June 2021 I accepted a position with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina as a Senior Investigator in their Special Investigations Unit. This has proven to be quite the adventure as well as challenging learning the insurance fraud business from this side of the house. I am now thankful for all those health insurance fraud cases that I sometimes banged my head against the wall as a criminal investigator. During my short time here I have obtained my AHFI certification as well as continued on my journey to learn more about the business and how I can better apply my law enforcement experience to network and find ways to protect our members and providers. Prior to joining the Blues my career began in full time law enforcement since 1987. During that time I worked in communications, civil, patrol, forensics/investigations, and the last six and a half years as a law enforcement investigator with the State of Florida, investigating insurance fraud. My niche in insurance fraud has been my success in large scale health insurance fraud, but My responsibilities overall involve all types of fraud. For most of this period I functioned as a FTO, and lead detective for the Fort Myers Office. I was also in the commercial charter bus service as an owner operator from 1992 to I managed a fleet of up to eight to ten buses providing group transportation throughout the United States and Canada. As President, I was responsible for overseeing budget, planning, advertising, hiring, and safety management.
