About Dexter Sam

I have 13 years of professional experience, working at the intersection of program strategy, design, delivery and leadership. Presently, I lead the TN program at STiR Education, and serve as the Associate Head – Programme. Prior to STiR, I had the privilege of working directly with children amid adverse experiences of poverty, HIV, displacement, ethnic conflict, and trauma. I worked extensively with teachers and school leaders, and explored government / donor partnerships. These grassroots experiences convinced me of the need for a stronger public education system. I believe that equity and quality in education are two sides of the same coin. With STiR, I have been fortunate to witness our system-strengthening work at multiple levels from the State-level, to the district / block / cluster levels all the way to the school level. I have an academic background in social work, child rights law, and educational leadership and see myself as a lifelong learner.
