About Diamond Nickelson

Diamond Perri’ Nickelson earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Southern University and A&M College (Baton Rouge), her Masters in Social Work from Tulane University School of Social Work and is currently a Doctorate of Social Work student at Tulane University School of Social Work.As the Program Coordinator for Project RETAIN (Resilient, Empowered, Trained and Invested Network), Diamond supports the daily operations of the HRSA (U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration) funded grant at TSSW. The program focuses on understanding healthcare workers self-care needs and developing models to address burnout while improving overall wellbeing. Prior to her current position, Diamond was employed at the Orleans Parish District Attorney Office as a Victim Witness Coordinator. Diamond has over 10 years of hands- on experience in the criminal justice system, civil justice system, and mental health arena. She completed her MSW program field practicum with the Trauma Recovery Team at Southeast Louisiana’s only level 1 Trauma Center, University Medical Center, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Diamond has a passion for social justice with a commitment and interest in education, advocacy, community-based research, policy development, and disaster and collective trauma. As an individual who possess the core values of dignity, service, and integrity, Nickelson will continue advocating for the community with an overall goal of meeting the needs of the underserved in New Orleans and surrounding areas.I continue to live by the three C's in life:"You have to make a CHOICE to take a CHANCE or your life will never CHANGE".
