About Diana Lyon

I come to social work after many successful years as an Early Childhood Educator in the private sector in Brooklyn, New York. Not having been in the field prior to graduate school has given me a fresh perspective on the practice of social work in a changing world. I have developed a particular interest in the social work as an arena for social change, whether in micro or macro practice. I am interested in positions that will allow me to offer direct support to individuals and families while also advocating within the systems with which my clients interact. Having served on two boards of directors, a committee chairperson in various settings, the chairperson of a faculty-run educational center, and as the co-chair of a non-profit community organization, I have extensive experience in the management of teams, project management, and the chairing of meetings, whether in-person or in online formats. I have experience operating in both grassroots efforts and long-standing institutions. Along the same lines, I can take initiative and leadership when needed, but am also an excellent team member.
