About Diane Johnson

Diane Johnson, PharmD, BCPS (she/her) is a clinical pharmacist practitioner (CPP) in pain management and the residency program director (RPD) of the PGY2 Pain Management and Palliative Care Pharmacy Residency. She received her PharmD from the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy in 2007. She completed the Pharmacy Practice PGY1 Residency at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital and then joined the pharmacy team as a Clinical Pharmacist in August 2008. Her practice has primarily been in the Chronic Pain and Anticoagulation Clinics. She is also a staff pharmacist in the inpatient and outpatient pharmacies as well as the subacute rehab unit, serving as the pain management pharmacist. She has an appointment through the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy as a clinical instructor and precepts 4th year pharmacy students in addition to PGY1 and PGY2 residents. Dr. Johnson sits on the pain committee, OSI committee, CARA workgroup, and Whole Health Implementation committee. She works with the national VA Clinical Pharmacy Practice Office as a Pain Management Subject Matter Expert. In 2017, her pain clinic duties expanded after the facility was awarded a rural health grant. She established the PGY2 Pain Management and Palliative Care Pharmacy Residency in 2019 which has allowed her to further purse her passion of mentoring pharmacy residents.
