About Diane Mitchell Hostetter

Growing up, I never wanted to be a teacher. My mom was a teacher, my grandmother was a teacher, my cousins were teachers. Not me. Nope. I chose another path, graduated from college and began a career in private industry. My time in private industry gave me priceless insight. I learned to communicate professionally. I learned common business practices and expectations, the sales cycle, customer service, basic marketing, networking, problem solving and time management. I learned so many useful skills, and yet, something was missing. I knew what it was. I returned to school to get my teaching certification and the rest, as they say, is history. I found my passion in education. My work is student-centered, focused on how they learn best, and how I can deliver the information in an engaging and valuable way. I love to integrate technology into my lessons, and I’m always willing to try something new. In a nutshell, I’m constantly learning and evolving in order to bring better understanding and connections to my students. I’m endlessly tweaking assignments and assessments to bring the material to life in new and thoughtful ways. I’m willing to learn from my mistakes and continue to pursue creative avenues. I not only have experience in creating dynamic lessons, but am also competent in course development, curriculum writing, instructional analysis and professional development. Outside of the world of education, you can find me having fun with my husband and kids, playing with our dog, trying a new recipe (I have an amazing guac recipe), traveling and going on adventures, organizing something in the house, or working in the garden.
