About Dibyendu Dey

I have been serving as an Assistant Professor (Research) in the Department of Physics and Nanotechnology at SRM Institute of Science and Technology since December 2024. I earned my Ph.D. from the Department of Physics at IIT Kharagpur, where my research focused on computational condensed matter physics. Prior to that, I completed my M.Sc. in Physics at IIT Roorkee and my B.Sc. in Physics at Jadavpur University. Over the course of six years of postdoctoral research in the United States, I gained extensive experience working at the University of Central Florida, the University of Maine, and Arizona State University.My research expertise lies in computational condensed matter and materials physics, with a strong foundation in Density Functional Theory (DFT), high-throughput materials screening, and machine learning. My work covers a broad range of impactful areas, including energy materials for solar cells, supercapacitors, and batteries; nanoscale two-dimensional materials for spintronics and flexible electronics; and quantum materials that are advancing innovations in quantum computing and quantum information science. In addition to these, I have extensive experience in the study of strongly correlated systems, focusing on magnetism, multiferroics, and superconductivity.My research has been published in several prestigious journals in condensed matter physics and materials science, including Physical Review B, Physical Review Materials, and Applied Physics Letters. Many of my publications have also appeared in high-impact journals such as Advanced Materials (Impact Factor: 27.4), Advanced Functional Materials (Impact Factor: 18.5), Journal of the American Chemical Society (Impact Factor: 14.4), Applied Physics Reviews (Impact Factor: 11.9), and Nano Letters (Impact Factor: 9.6), among others.
