About Diego Alonso

Diego Alonso (male) received his M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (2001) and his Ph.D. from the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT, 2008). Between and 2003 he was a scholar associated with research projects at the University of Murcia, and in 2004 he obtained a position as Assistant Professor at the Department of Information and Communications Technology of the UPCT, where he currently holds a position of Associate Professor, tenured. His research interests include the development of software for reactive systems with real-time restrictions following the model-driven engineering paradigm, such as robots, embedded and distributed systems, Internet-of Things. In connection with this research line, he has participated in 29 research projects and has published more than 50 papers in conferences and specialized journals. Since 2014, he has focused on the promotion of technology transfer and the creation of startups, having participated in 5 H2020 European projects related to this subject: Startup ScaleUp (GA 644023), EUXCEL (GA 644801, leader at UPCT), UNICORN (GA 731846, leader at UPCT), MERLIN (GA 780460, coordinator) and Space Endeavour (GA 870480, co-leader at UPCT). He is co-founder of the accelerator Cloud Incubator HUB, created within the UPCT.
