About Diego Krivochen

My training as a linguist builds upon my undergraduate studies in Classical and Spanish philology; later on focused on Spanish grammar, English grammar, semantics, comparative syntax, and formal language theory. I am an active researcher with a current focus on auxiliary verb constructions in Spanish and English, the theory of locality in grammar, and the syntax of coordinated structures and embedding in Spanish and English. My research into the detailed properties of these constructions led me to develop interest and expertise in the mathematical and logical aspects of linguistic description and theory. I completed a funded PhD investigating the formal and computational mechanisms underpinning locality phenomena in natural language. My approach is highly interdisciplinary, allowing me to work with neuroscientists and psychologists as well as linguists, but I am always guided by the need to provide insightful grammatical analyses for natural language phenomena from a synchronic and comparative standpoint. I have experience teaching syntax, semantics, logic, Spanish language, and general linguistics to students of a variety of backgrounds and at a variety of levels (BA, MA, PhD); I am an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher and try to implement the results of my research in class. In addition to my research and teaching experience, I also have some experience in language teaching, technical editing, and translation (English <> Spanish)
