About Diego MacIas

Hi! My name is Diego and I’m a recent Data Science graduate from UC Berkeley. I recently interned at Chime, where I led full-stack development for a feature used by over 3.6 million users. I worked across Ruby, GraphQL, AWS, and internal APIs to build scalable backend systems and data pipelines that powered user-facing financial insights. Before that, I interned at Fortera, where I built internal tools using Node.js and MongoDB to digitize R&D workflows. I developed dynamic dashboards and web forms that replaced manual processes, helping engineering teams visualize trends and manage chemical data more efficiently. At Berkeley, I served as Curriculum Chair for ANova, a student organization focused on bringing hands-on computer science education to under-resourced high schools. I led the development of project-based curriculum in Data Science, mentored newer members, and helped grow our program’s technical impact and reach across the Bay Area. In my free time, I enjoy basketball, traveling, hiking, and—more recently—golf (though I wouldn’t call myself good just yet).
