Background

About Diego R. Broz

Since 2017, I have been working as a Researcher at CONICET and, since 2008, as a faculty member at the Faculty of Forestry Sciences. Throughout my research career, I have specialized in the simulation and optimization of forest systems and processes, covering forest management, industrial operations, forest logistics, and supply chain management. My main modeling approach has been through goal programming and mixed-integer programming techniques.Currently, I am involved in projects focused on Integrated Fire Management (IFM), with particular emphasis on risk assessment, pre-suppression, suppression, and fire behavior. These projects are linked to the Canadian Forest Fire Danger Rating System (CFFDRS), and include the application of the Fire Weather Index (FWI) and the development of the Fire Behavior Prediction (FBP) system in northeastern Argentina. My consulting and technology transfer activities with both public and private sectors focus on forest management and integrated fire management. In this area, I work on management planning, the development of fire prevention and pre-suppression plans, data analysis, and the development of fuel and fire behavior models. As a complementary activity, I am a member of the Volunteer Fire Department of the city of Eldorado, Misiones, serving in this role on a voluntary and unpaid basis.
