About Diego Soto

Civil Engineer with a Major in Water Resources and Environment from the University of Chile, with six years of consultancy and teaching experience. Main focus are hydrogeology and numerical and conceptual modelling of aquifers. I have also worked on hydraulic surface 2D flow models (IBER & HEC-RAS) and other kind of numerical models with graphical interface in Python as YADE that couple the Discrete Element Method (DEM) with the Pore Scale Finite Volume (PFV) method. In the last few years I was working on integrated watershed modeling projects between surface runoff (WEAP) and groundwater flows (MODFLOW) in nine different basins, projecting climate change and water management scenarios. Currently working in environmental impact studies and in the review and elaboration of hydrogeological models with components of variable density and solute transport. I am interested to deepen my knowledge and capabilities on groundwater numerical modeling with specific interests on the unsaturated zone, mass transport and the varying conditions imposed by climate change
