About Dimuthu Jayakody

I am an environmental social scientist and a PhD student at the University of Tasmania, where I explore the influence of place attachment on climate change adaptation action of individuals and households. My research aims to inform policy and practice on how to enhance community resilience and adaptive capacity in the face of rapidly changing environments.With a master's degree in protected area governance and management and a bachelor's degree in marine vertebrate zoology, I have a strong background in spatial planning and natural resource management. I have also gained valuable experience as a project coordinator at Dilmah Conservation and a project assistant at IUCN Asia, where I contributed to various environmental initiatives including coastal community development, mangrove restoration, environmental assessment and ecosystem-based conservation planning. I am skilled in strategic communications, land-use planning and project development and coordination; and I am committed to achieving long-term socio-ecological sustainability and community resilience through meaningful engagement with community groups, and by strengthening collaborative decision-making through participatory, interdisciplinary, and integrated approaches to environmental planning.
