I strive to include developmental elements to all policies, programs, and events to make them engaging and meaningful for the participants. I value inclusive leadership, integrity, and strong communication. I participate in institutional, community, and civic development and contribute in meaningful ways where I am able. I celebrate diversity and make conscientious efforts to be inclusive and inviting. Most recently, I have developed a student development model using The Eight Dimensions of Wellness to maintain the development of the human in addition to the development of technical skills to better prepare students for the soft skills necessary in any career path. I have served in many capacities within student affairs and have taught leadership and first-year experience classes. In an effort to understand all facets of higher education, I have intentionally served at technical colleges, community colleges, four-year universities, and graduate schools, in both public and private institutions. My dissertation examined how legends, traditions, rituals, and symbols serve to add a layer of "place attachment" for students who are actively involved in student clubs and organizations as well as those who choose to not be involved. This research originated with a question on how these artifacts can impact the alumni relationship. In line with this, one of my crowning achievements was establishing a "bookend" tradition for students at one of the schools where I served. The tradition is now an annual event and has become a recruiting and retention tool.
