About Dinusha Soo

Dinusha is a sessional academic at Western Sydney University, an Associate Researcher within the Young and Resilient Research Centre and a Research Officer at UNSW. In 2024, she commenced her Master of Research, a two-year, full-time program. She has achieved a GPA of 7/7 in her course-work component and her academic excellence was recognised with the Dean’s Excellence Master of Research Scholarship and a donor award for achieving the highest overall mark in the School of Humanities and Communication Arts. As a researcher and designer, Dinusha is passionate about social advocacy and working on projects that support marginalised communities. Her contributions in this space have earned her multiple accolades, including- Excellence in Sustainability Impact, Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Award (2024)- Highly Commended in University Engagement and Sustainability, Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Award (2021)- Summer and Winter Research Scholarships (Climate Change) – 2022 & 2023 Dinusha holds a Bachelor of Design – Visual Communication (Dean’s Scholars), graduating in 2023 with a GPA of 6.97/7. She was on the Dean’s Merit List (2019–2023), awarded Best Overall Student and Best Major Project, and received the Dean’s Medal. As a multidisciplinary designer, Dinusha also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) from ANU and a Graduate Diploma in Chartered Accounting. With 11+ years as a professional accountant, she brings a transdisciplinary approach to her work, integrating design, research, and business expertise.
